Mrs. AnithaRaj’s journey from humble beginnings to reaching the pinnacle of entrepreneurship is a story of sheer grit and endeavour, one step at a time. Starting to work in a school to support her family after Matriculation, she completed her education side by side.
She started her career with Akash Enterprises in 2000, designing clothing with 10 sewing machines in a rented place. Soon she was busy taking tailoring orders for uniforms from schools and colleges. Allotted an industrial site for her enterprise, she has expanded the business to provide livelihood to nearly 400 employees. They have now also diversified into customized clothing.
2013 saw Mrs. AnithaRaj venture into the field of Packaged Drinking Water and Beverages with Jala Beverages Pvt Limited. Owing to great quality and taste, their market has expanded all over Karnataka, and they are now co-packers for the Brand Teacher’s and Lavenjal.
She established Purple Haze Beauty Lounge and Academy in 2013, which has grown on to be a franchise network with three salons in Bangalore, and many more to come up all over India. The unisex salon offers quality hair and skin services under one roof. Mrs. AnithaRaj uses this platform to train the students free of charge, helping them stand firmly on their own feet. She helps skilled Dalit women set up their own Purple Haze across all states of India, without demanding any royalty for the franchise.
A champion for the cause of Dalit Women Empowerment by passion, Mrs. Raj
joined Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI) to realize her dream of leading Dalit women from the walls of the kitchen to Dalal Street. Presently the National President of the women’s wing of DICCI, she dedicates major part of her time for the upliftment of young Dalit women, providing them with awareness, education and opportunities to become entrepreneurs through seminars, skill development classes and guidance. DICCI provides the means and connections to help her realize her aspirations of women empowerment.
Mrs. AnithaRaj’s life and all her enterprises aim at providing jobs and empowering dalit women and youth to walk in step with the world. She believes that nothing comes easy in this world. Work hard and stay humble is her mantra!
